Welcome back for season two of my column, "Clayton Picks All the Games Correctly."
In this column, I will select the straight up winners of all the big games every weekend, AAC or otherwise. The spread, the over-under, and all of that other jazz is way too confusing. If you want the skinny on all of that I suggest you check out Carl’s "Stone Cold Lock of the Century of the Week" video prognostication service.
Each week, I will pick all the AAC games and a smattering of other consequential ones from around the country.
Here are my picks for the big games this Friday night.
AAC Games
Army at Temple: Expect a few steps back by the Temple Owls in 2016. But don’t expect them to fade enough to lose to a rebuilding Army team.
Final Score: Temple 31 Army 17
The Rest of the Country
Albany at Buffalo: Why have the SUNY schools stopped calling themselves SUNY? Is this some effort to expand their national brand? "The University at Albany" is such awkward, vague phrasing. It sounds to me like some pretend, for-profit college like The University of Phoenix. The State University of New York at Albany makes way more sense to me. For the uninitiated, it tells you just what the school is.
Final Score: Buffalo 28 Albany 21
Furman at No. 12 Michigan State: Petruchio, a cash poor noble from Verona, travels to Padua in search of a well-to-do wife. In Padua, he meets Katharina, who is a real firecracker. She has thus far avoided marriage but ends up falling for Petruchio and that’s where the real story begins. For more details, head down to your local library and check out "The Taming of the Shrew" by William Shakespeare. It will be more entertaining than this game.
Final Score: MSU 42 Furman 12
Kansas State at No. 8 Stanford: Saw about 45 promos for this matchup during the Chargers-Vikings spring training game on Fox last Sunday afternoon.
Final Score: Stanford 61 Kansas State 17
Colorado at Colorado State: Both of these teams stink and I hope neither of them win. Unfortunately, they got that newfangled overtime rule that I have hated since the day I read about it in the Sporting News while listening to Soundgarden’s "Spoonman" on repeat during study hall while drinking an RC Cola and cracking my knuckles.
Final Score: Colorado State 10 Colorado 0
