The Cincinnati Bearcats women’s basketball team will look to end a two-game American Athletic Conference losing streak when they head to the University of Houston this Wednesday evening.
This road contest will be held at 8 p.m. EST and it will be televised online at GoBearcats.com.
The Bearcats enter this game with a 9-7 overall record and a 1-2 mark in the AAC. They dropped a pair of league games last week, falling to South Florida at home and Tulsa on the road, both in decisive fashion.
Getting back on track against the Houston Cougars will be a difficult task. The Cougars are one of the most improved teams in college basketball. Houston boasts a 14-3 overall mark and a 3-0 record in the AAC. The Cougars have already won more games during the 2017-2018 season than they did during the entire 2016-2017 season, when they went 12-19.
Last Saturday, Houston knocked off perennial AAC power Tulane in a 98-92 barnburner that took an extra period to decide.
Houston is one of the best and most frequent three-point shooting teams in the country. A triumvirate of sophomores, guards Jasmyne Harris (19.8 ppg) and Angela Harris (13.2 ppg) as well as forward Dorian Branch (11.4 ppg), are all shooting better than 35 percent from beyond the arc.
Cincinnati will need to harass Houston’s strong perimeter shooters while asserting its physical advantage in the low post to compete in this game.
As always, Down the Drive will provide full post-game analysis of Cincinnati women’s basketball.
