Cincinnati 125 for 125 | # 16 Reggie Taylor

Running Back | Letters 1983-86

Reggie Taylor has done two things that no one else has done in Bearcats history. He is the only man to lead the Bearcats in rushing for four straight seasons which he did every year he played for UC. Taylor also is the only man who ran for 1,000 yards or more in three consecutive seasons.

And he did it all as a 5'7" 170 running back in an era that was dominated by herculean running backs like Eric Dickerson and Herschel Walker. Taylor came to UC from Los Angeles where he was a star for Lynwood High School. But his size kept most of the west coast powers from taking a shot. Taylor had two offers to Cincinnati and Hawai'i. He chose the Bearcats thus being the only person in history to choose four years in Cincinnati over four years in Hawai'i.

Taylor walked away with every major rushing record. His marks for career carries (876), yards (4,242) and 100 yard games (21) are neigh on untouchable.
