Deyshawn Bond Named To Rimington Watchlist

The red shirt Sophomore is one of a handful of underclassmen to be considered for the award which is given annually to the best center in the country.

University of Cincinnati football student-athlete Deyshawn Bond (Indianapolis, Ind./Warren Central) was tabbed for the 2014 Rimington Trophy Spring Watch List, the committee announced Monday.

Bond is the first of what will likely be several Bearcats who end up on the preseason watch lists for the various national awards that will be released between now and the start of practice in August.

Deyshawn was generally exceptional in his first year as a starter for the Bearcats taking over the role that Dan Sprauge was supposed to fill before he was lost to injury for the year. He had some rough patches during the season but was the most consistent lineman on the squad not named Eric Lefeld

A grand total of 6 sophomores made the watch list

  • Dan Voltz, Wisconsin
  • Cody Waldrop, South Carolina
  • Jake Brendel, UCLA
  • Jon Toth, Kentucky
  • Dylan Foxworth, Tulsa

For what its worth 7 AAC players made the watch list.
