Brad Harrah Makes An Impact At Defensive Tackle

In the middle of camp there were rumblings that Brad Harrah had made a position change from defensive end to defensive tackle. That change appeared to be short lived as Harrah was playing as a defensive end in the Toledo game, but it was rendered more complete during the week as Harrah is now a full time defensive tackle.

Bearcats Top The RedHawks 31-24

Much like last year's game, this one was not pretty, but it was a win. The defense cleaned up a lot of the mistakes from the Toledo game, but certainly not all of them. Still this year I will usually take the defense giving up just 24 points on the assumption that the offense will comfortably score more than that. It is there that my logic failed me tonight.

What To Expect: UC Defense vs. Miami Offense

The Miami RedHawks offense has been in a rut since Zac Dysert graduated. They may have a keeper of a quarterback in Andrew Hendrix, the problem is that they can't keep him for long because he is graduate transfer. All in all this Miami offense looks better than it did a year ago. But that is not to say that it is good, just better.

What To Expect: UC O against Miami D

The Cincinnati Bearcats offense found very little resistance from the Toledo Rockets in their first game of the season. The Miami RedHawks will offer considerably more. They aren't flashy or loaded with athletes up front, but they are a really sound and physical defense.

Offensive Personnel and Formations vs Toledo

One of the biggest questions coming into the season was how the Bearcats offense would look. The main question being would Eddie Gran revert to the roots he displayed last year when the Bearcats unsuccessfully tried to meld an offense that was part one back spread, part power. After one game the answer is a pretty emphatic no.

Film Study: Anatomy Of A Bust

All of the press about the Bearcats has been about the offense, and with good reason. They really lit things up on that side of the ball. The receivers had acres of space and Gunner Kiel had enough time to get them the ball. In all the Bearcats rolled up 584 yards of offense on just 72 plays and looked unstoppable against the Rockets. The problem was that the defense looked just as incapable of stopping the Rockets.

Thomas Arrested, Williams Cited After Incident

Late yesterday reports from WCPO were of "bearcats football players involved in gunplay at a party." Which paints a pretty stark picture, and a not altogether accurate one. As it turns out that no football players were involved in the primary incident. Two were caught up in the aftermath of the shots being fired.

Why Keeping The Miami Series Alive Makes Sense

Around about this time every year the Cincinnati Bearcats take on the Miami RedHawks in a game that has been ongoing annual tradition for 105 years, give or take a World War. It is also around this time that Bearcat fans wonder what value is in it for them going forward. There is a strain of thought that the Bearcats should abandon the game. Its not something that I subscribe to.

The Bearcats Pushed The Little Red Button

When it comes to football I guess I am a little bit like Ricky Bobby, I just want to go fast. There are too many advantages to running an offense with pace for a smart team not to do it. Some forgo it, and proudly, but unless you have an inexhaustible supply of blue chip linemen and tailbacks it is hard to succeed long term doing that.

Miami RedHawks Statistical Leaders

Miami is an improved team from where they were a year ago, but they have still found themselves on the wrong end of 19 straight games. Their offense is very much a work in progress, but the defense will put up more resistance than Toledo did. So who do the Bearcats have to look out for on Saturday night?
