Bearcats Dip Into Miami For Antonio Howard

Tommy Tuberville is having himself a weekend. Last night Antonio Howard, a defensive back from Miami committed to the Bearcats to play corner. This staff's deep connections in Florida have been brought to bear this weekend.

It is very early in the process but Howard has been a buys man. The one they call speedy was originally committed to FIU as of March, but he decommitted from the Golden Panthers one month later as interest in him increased. Before committing to the Bearcats Syracuse, South Florida and Kentucky were listed as offering him. The Bearcats offered and he committed yesterday.

Here is his hudl page, go ahead and watch some videos and we can share some impressions. Here, I'll go first

  • Plays with an uncommon aggression, even for a Miami guy
  • Has tremendous speed
  • Excellent instincts in coverage
  • Smaller frame than those the Bearcats favored in 2013
  • His tackling is far from a work of art, but he gets guys to the ground

Howard originally attended Jackson High School in Miami for at least his sophomore and junior season. However he is apparently going to be finishing his senior season elsewhere. Three of the scouting services have him heading to Miami Northwestern, which is just down the road from Jackson and makes the most sense neighborhood wise. 24/7 has him listed as a Miami Norland product. Not sure what any of that means for this year or going forward, its just interesting.

Welcome aboard Antonio!
