The top five stories affecting Bearcat Nation and a little bonus action
"They're very prideful," second-year coach Butch Jones said. "You look at the adversities this football team had to suffer. When your emotional leader and the leader of your offense is laying there on the ground and being taken off on a cart, that takes a little something from you. …To go on the road at Syracuse and bounce back, that's a tribute to everyone in our football program."
"It's just hanging in there and continuing to fight, believing in the scheme, believing in the kids, believing in the staff," Banks said. "Things aren't always going to go the way you want, but we believe if you work extremely hard and you have great mental conditioning, you've got a chance to be successful."
I haven't always been the biggest fan of Banks, but he has made me a believer, almost. His calling of games has been much better and more unpredictable this season. It's a big reason why UC's defense has been effective in 2011.
"I'm hoping that everybody in Athens is in Atlanta for the football game Saturday," Cronin said. "I'm hoping there's a big party (tonight) for the Georgia alumni and students in Atlanta. That's my hope."
I am betting that Cronin is getting his wish tonight. Call it a hunch
I knew going into the West Virgina-South Florida game it would be a lot to ask for the Bulls to actually win this late in the season. USF has late season collapses down to a science. And they lost last night in a way that makes you think they had been practicing that all season. All I could do was laugh when B.J. Daniels fumbled deep in West Virginia’s territory. It was almost bound to happen!
